21

Hyundai has begun taking orders in the UK for the Ioniq 6 N, its second all-electric performance model. Priced from £65,800, this super-saloon delivers 641 bhp while maintaining a respectable 302-mile range. The vehicle represents a substantial upgrade over the standard Ioniq 6, blending track-ready performance with everyday usability.

Powertrain and Performance

The Ioniq 6 N features a high-output dual-motor setup that propels it from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds, with a top speed of 160 mph. Key enhancements include electrically adjustable dampers and an electronic limited-slip differential for superior handling. The car’s 84 kWh battery provides the stated range, making it competitive in the high-performance EV segment.

Enhanced Driving Experience

Building on the success of the Ioniq 5 N, the 6 N incorporates an updated simulated sequential gearbox. This feature now offers shorter ratios and a refined sound system designed to mimic the feel of a traditional performance car. The inclusion of this gearbox was central to the positive reception of the Ioniq 5 N, and Hyundai has clearly doubled down on it here.

Design and Handling

Visually, the Ioniq 6 N stands out with a rear spoiler, front splitter, side skirts, and rear diffuser. It rides on 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in high-performance 275mm-wide Pirelli P Zero tires. Stopping power comes from robust 400mm vented discs with four-piston calipers at the front and 360mm vented discs at the rear.

Interior and Customization

Inside, the vehicle boasts an N-specific steering wheel with paddles for the simulated gearbox, as well as additional controls for drive mode customization. The bucket seats, carried over from the Ioniq 5 N, provide aggressive support during spirited driving. Buyers can choose from six paint finishes, including a standard pearlescent white and optional colors like N’s signature blue, black, and grey (at extra cost). A panoramic glass roof is also available for an additional £1250.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 N signals a continued push into high-performance EVs, and its combination of power, range, and track-inspired features makes it a compelling option for driving enthusiasts. The rapid development of electric performance models is reshaping the automotive landscape, with Hyundai at the forefront of this transformation.
