Leapmotor A10: New Electric SUV Targets Renault 4 and Ford Puma

Leapmotor is preparing to launch the A10, a new compact electric SUV designed to compete with established models like the Renault 4 and Ford Puma. The vehicle, previewed in recent images released on Chinese social media, is slated for a full debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show on November 21st, with UK availability expected in 2026.

Design and Exterior Features

The A10’s exterior design appears sleek but familiar, sharing stylistic cues with Leapmotor’s existing B10 SUV. Notable features include a distinctive LED lighting signature designed to resemble smiley emojis, flush door handles, and a black C-pillar creating a floating roof effect. A LiDAR sensor is integrated above the windscreen, indicating advanced driver-assistance capabilities. The charging port is uniquely positioned within the front wheel arch.

Interior and Technology

While interior details remain undisclosed, the A10 is expected to mirror the minimalist approach seen in other Leapmotor models, such as the C10 and B10. This means a largely button-free cabin dominated by a 14.6-inch central touchscreen and an 8.8-inch driver’s instrument display. The focus is on digital integration rather than physical controls.

Powertrain and Performance

The A10 is anticipated to utilize Leapmotor’s ‘Leap 3.5’ architecture, the same platform as the B10. This includes the next-generation electric motor with oil-cooling technology, designed for improved efficiency. Range is projected to be around 250 miles, supported by a maximum charging speed exceeding 150kW.

Market Positioning

The A10 will sit below the C10 and B10 in Leapmotor’s UK lineup. The brand is also developing a supermini, the A05, which will share many components with the A10. This strategic positioning aims to capture a broader segment of the electric vehicle market.

The Leapmotor A10 represents a continued push by Chinese automakers into the European EV space, offering competitive range and technology at potentially aggressive pricing. The vehicle’s success will depend on its ability to stand out in a crowded market while delivering on its promised performance and value
