Skoda Peaq: The Brand’s Largest Electric SUV Revealed

11

Skoda is preparing to launch its biggest vehicle ever: the all-electric Peaq SUV. This seven-seat (or optional five-seat) model expands the Czech automaker’s EV lineup, slotting above the Enyaq, Elroq, and Epiq. The Peaq introduces a range of firsts for Skoda, including a massive panoramic glass roof with electrochromic control, flush door handles, and a high-end Sonos sound system.

Size and Space

The Peaq measures 4,874 millimeters (192 inches) in length, making it 116 mm longer than the Kodiaq, Skoda’s current combustion-engine flagship. Its extended wheelbase of 2,965 mm (116.7 inches) provides ample interior space. The five-seat configuration offers 1,010 liters (35.6 cubic feet) of cargo capacity, while the seven-seat setup still accommodates 299 liters (10.5 cu ft) with all rows in use, plus an extra 37 liters (1.3 cu ft) in a front trunk.

Performance and Range

Skoda will offer the Peaq with two battery options: 63 kWh and 91 kWh. The smaller pack delivers a range exceeding 460 kilometers (286 miles), while the larger pack extends this to over 600 kilometers (373 miles). DC fast charging from 10% to 80% takes approximately 28 minutes.

Power options include single-motor variants producing 201 hp and 282 hp, and a dual-motor flagship delivering 295 hp. The latter accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 6.7 seconds. Top speeds are electronically limited to 180 km/h (112 mph) for most models, with the base version restricted to 160 km/h (100 mph).

Firsts for Skoda

The Peaq breaks new ground for the brand:

  • Electrochromic Roof: The largest panoramic glass roof ever fitted to a Skoda, featuring dynamic shade control with nine configurable sections.
  • Flush Door Handles: Electrically deployed but manually operable for emergencies.
  • Integrated Washers: Wiper blades with built-in washers enhance cleaning efficiency while reducing fluid usage.
  • Sonos Sound System: A premium audio experience, marking the first time Skoda has included Sonos in its vehicles.
  • Relax Package: Optional massaging, ventilated seats with adjustable leg rests, and a wellness app to customize ambient lighting and climate control.

Practical Details and Tech

Skoda’s “Simply Clever” features are abundant: dual wireless charging pads, an electric roller shutter for the cargo area, USB ports integrated into the rearview mirror (ideal for dashcams), and additional ports for rear passengers. The cabin includes a vertical 13.6-inch Android-based touchscreen, complemented by a 10-inch digital instrument cluster. Additional touches include ticket holders, display cleaners, and a foldable table. Even the luggage compartment has a QR code linking to an instructional video on using the storage solutions.

Market Context

The Peaq enters a competitive market, facing rivals like the Peugeot E-5008, Kia EV9, and Hyundai Ioniq 9. EVs are gaining momentum in Europe, accounting for nearly 20% of sales in 2025, and this share is slowly increasing. Skoda’s timing aligns with this growing demand for electric SUVs.

The Skoda Peaq represents a significant expansion of the brand’s EV offerings, blending spaciousness, advanced technology, and practical features into a compelling package for families.
