The updated Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan has established a new benchmark in long-distance performance, completing a grueling 24-hour endurance test with a remarkable 4,264 kilometers covered. This achievement surpasses the previous record held by the Xpeng P7, solidifying Xiaomi’s position in China’s competitive EV market. The 2026 model year SU7 is slated for release in April 2026, bringing with it substantial hardware and design refinements.
Record-Breaking Endurance Test
Xiaomi officials confirmed the successful completion of the endurance run on January 19th. Conducted in Yancheng, Jiangsu province, between November 20th and 21st, the SU7 maintained an average speed of 240 km/h, pausing only for battery charging during the 24-hour period. This result eclipses the 3,961 km achieved by the second-generation Xpeng P7 in a similar test in 2025, and also exceeds the 3,944 km covered by Xiaomi’s own YU7 crossover.
Key Upgrades in the Updated SU7 Max
The SU7 Max features a cutting-edge 897V high-voltage system paired with a 101.7 kWh ternary NMC battery. This configuration supports 5.2C charging technology, enabling peak power delivery of up to 530 kW. The vehicle is propelled by Xiaomi’s in-house developed V6s Plus e-motor, capable of 22,000 RPM and generating 288 kW (386 hp). The combined system output reaches 508 kW (681 hp), allowing for a top speed of 265 km/h.
Charging and Range Capabilities
The updated SU7 Max boasts an impressive CLTC range of 835 kilometers. Thanks to an advanced thermal management system, the car can recover up to 670 kilometers of range in just 15 minutes. This rapid charging capability is a key differentiator in the EV segment, directly addressing range anxiety among consumers.
Additional Enhancements for 2026 Model Year
Beyond powertrain upgrades, the 2026 SU7 includes several refinements:
– Dual-chamber air suspension for improved ride comfort
– Backup power for door locks, enhancing security
– A 700 TOPS SoC (System on a Chip) for advanced driver assistance
– 2,200 MPa hot-formed steel elements for enhanced structural rigidity
– Wider rear tires for improved grip and handling
– New exterior color options for personalization
Pricing and Market Position
The updated Xiaomi SU7 is priced between 229,900 and 309,900 yuan (approximately $32,990 to $44,470 USD). This competitive pricing, combined with its cutting-edge technology and proven endurance, positions the SU7 as a formidable contender in the Chinese EV market.
The Xiaomi SU7’s record-breaking performance underscores the rapid advancements in electric vehicle technology and the intense competition within the Chinese automotive industry. The updated model’s success signals a growing trend towards high-performance, long-range EVs, pushing other manufacturers to innovate further.
