Zeekr X Gets a Major Refresh: Lower Prices, Faster Charging, and Enhanced Tech

17

The 2026 Zeekr X is arriving in Australia with a dual-pronged strategy: significant price reductions paired with meaningful technical upgrades. The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) brand is positioning its compact SUV to be more competitive in an increasingly crowded small-EV market by offering more power and faster charging capabilities at a lower entry point.

Aggressive New Pricing

In a move that significantly lowers the barrier to entry, Zeekr has slashed the drive-away prices for the MY26 range. This price drop is particularly notable for the flagship model.

  • Single-Motor RWD: Now starts from $48,900 drive-away (previously $49,900 before on-road costs).
  • Dual-Motor AWD: Now priced at $57,900 drive-away (a substantial reduction from the previous $62,900 plus on-roads).

To encourage early adoption, Zeekr is offering a pre-order incentive program valid until May 31. Customers can benefit from complimentary exterior and interior color choices, automatic doors, a 7kW home charger, and extended warranty and roadside assistance. Current owners can also access a $3,000 trade-in support offer.

Enhanced Performance and “Golden Battery” Technology

While the price has gone down, the performance has gone up. Both variants now receive a 50kW increase in peak power.

The most significant technical leap is found in the Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) model, which adopts the “Golden Battery” technology borrowed from the larger Zeekr 7X.

Key Battery and Charging Upgrades:

  • New Architecture: The RWD uses a 61kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with Cell-to-Pack (CFP) architecture, designed for better thermal stability and safety.
  • Rapid DC Charging: The RWD’s DC fast-charging cap has jumped from 150kW to 230kW. This allows a 10–80% charge in approximately 18 minutes.
  • Improved AC Charging: The RWD now supports 11kW (up from 7.2kW), while the AWD has doubled its capacity to 22kW.

Note on Range: While charging is faster, the WLTP range ratings for the RWD (405km) and AWD (415km) differ from previous NEDC claims, reflecting a shift to more rigorous testing standards.

Premium Features and Safety

The 2026 update sees the AWD variant receiving a heavy dose of luxury upgrades that were previously unavailable or optional.

Luxury and Convenience (AWD Exclusive)

The flagship AWD model now offers a more premium cabin experience, including:
Massaging front seats and ventilated front seats.
– An onboard fridge located under the center armrest.
– A high-fidelity 13-speaker Yamaha surround sound system.
– A 24.3-inch augmented reality head-up display.
– “Ice Block” LED ambient lighting and heated steering wheel.

Advanced Safety Suite

The Zeekr X continues to lean heavily on its safety credentials. It features the new Zeekr AD driver assistance suite, utilizing a sophisticated sensor array of five HD cameras, five millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. This setup supports features like:
– Autonomous emergency braking (front and rear).
– Adaptive cruise control and automatic lane change.
– Remote Parking Assist for tight urban environments.

The model’s safety technology is so advanced that it was recently used by Euro NCAP for experimental research to help develop the next generation of safety protocols for 2029.

Maintenance and Ownership

Zeekr is also adjusting its service schedule. While the five-year warranty remains unchanged, service intervals have been tightened from every 24 months to every 12 months (or 20,000km). This ensures the vehicle remains in peak condition but requires more frequent scheduled visits.

Summary: By combining aggressive price cuts with high-speed charging and premium interior tech, the 2026 Zeekr X aims to disrupt the compact EV segment, offering high-end features at a more accessible price point.
